Suffolk Water Connections utilizes open dig trenching, excavation
of land, with the use of heavy equipment such as backhoes, bulldozers,
skid steers and or mini excavators. A minimum of 8 -15 ft. of access area
is required for the utilization of various equipment to excavate for the
proposed utility installation. The type of equipment used for open dig
trenching is generally determined upon the contour and landscaping of the
site. In determining whether the site is suitable for trenching, the property
owner should take into consideration the disruption and impact to landscaping
and other obstacles above and below the ground along with the costs of
it's restoration. Future settlement and erosion. should also be taken into
consideration. Owner or contractor may want to consider utilizing an alternate
method such as; horizontal directional
drilling for the installation due to conflicts with elevation changes,
retaining walls, landscaping, sprinkler systems, underground utilities,
sidewalks, roadways and or other obstacles. For shorter distances, installation
by air missile boring may be an option as
well. |
